Mastering Time Management: Efficient Editing Tips For Mom Photographers

Are you a mom photographer seeking to streamline your editing process while juggling family responsibilities? Look no further—here are some game-changing techniques and tools that have revolutionized the way I edit, saving me valuable time and preserving precious moments with my family.

  1. AI Culling: A Game-Changer for Time Management I've found AI culling to be a massive time-saver, especially when handling multiple sessions per week. Leveraging programs like Aftershoot has been a game-changer. I can upload my sessions, let the AI work its magic according to the settings I input, and return later to do a quick double-check. This allows me to free up my time for other tasks, knowing that the culling process is underway. I have found that Aftershoot is the best AI culling, after trying a few. It will effectively choose in focus images as well as ensure it keeps your artistic feel.

  2. Batch Editing with Imagen AI Another efficient approach I've adopted is batch editing using Imagen AI. This remarkable tool recognizes and complements my editing style, permitting me to apply presets and make initial adjustments efficiently. Notably, it has the capability to recognize and smoothen skin, a feature that has undoubtedly enhanced my workflow for portrait sessions. The time save also from not having to straighten / crop is also amazing. Aftershoot also has a batch editing option so if you are looking to do culling through them it may be more efficient for you to do all of that in one program verse two. You can also batch edit in Lightroom but it can be a little more time consuming because it does not automatically adjust the exposure or white balance it just auto populates your preset that you use are your base.

  3. Speedy Turnaround and Family Time By incorporating these streamlined techniques, I've witnessed a significant improvement in my editing turnaround. What used to be a 3-week delay has now been condensed to just 1-2 weeks, with some galleries delivered within a few days. As a mom, multi-tasking has become my forte, well sometimes. With these tools, I can upload and cull sessions while tending to household chores like dishes, set up the editing process during while making dinner, and fine-tune during the evening, all while ensuring that precious family time remains and we can keep to our routine.

  4. Customizable Options and Continuous Learning What's particularly remarkable about these AI-powered tools is their adaptability. With customizable options and a learning capability that adapts to my editing nuances, these tools have fine-tuned themselves over time, becoming invaluable allies in my quest for efficiency and quality.

In Conclusion: While the investment in these AI editing tools may seem steep, I've found that the immense time savings and the freedom to prioritize family time makes the cost decidedly worthwhile. I still maintain the personal touch and attention to detail in my editing, but the drudgery of applying presets and making repetitive adjustments has been significantly alleviated. As mom photographers, embracing these efficient editing techniques has not only optimized our workflows but has also afforded us the precious gift of time with our families—a priceless gain that far outweighs the financial investment. I know many photographers may be against ai but it is a great took especially for culling and for getting your photos set up to for all of your touch ups in either Lightroom or photoshop.
