Time and Content management: An inside look with Hello Jude Photography
As an interviewer and author of this blog, I had the opportunity to chat with Bailey Weisser, the owner of Hello Jude Photography. In this interview, we discuss topics such as Bailey's photography journey, the establishment of a physical studio, the impact of a client closet on business growth, her passion for newborn sessions, and her YouTube channel. Additionally, Bailey shares valuable time management tips for moms and newer photographers. So, let's dive right in!
Photography Journey and Establishing a Studio:
Bailey started her photography journey in 2015, inspired by the birth of her first child. After leaving a job that didn't align with her family's needs at the time, she sought a creative hobby and taught herself photography through various online resources. Hello Jude was launched as a portrait and wedding photography service but eventually transitioned to specialize in newborn and family photography. Bailey shares how having a physical studio in an old historic building provides consistency, safety, and climate control for newborn sessions.
It's fascinating to hear about Bailey's photography journey and how she found her niche in newborn and family photography. I know so many including myself who start doing other photography such as weddings and eventually decide we want to narrow in and simplify a little. It’s often when we do this, that the pieces fall together and our success elevates. When She decided to focus on Newborn and Family photography she Established a physical studio to provide a comfortable and controlled environment for clients, ensuring high-quality sessions.
Hello Jude Photography has an amazing client closet, I myself even went shopping for some of the same dresses she has in her client closet after watching her video about her client closet on her YouTube Channel.
Impact of the Client Closet on Business Growth:
Bailey discusses the positive impact of having a client closet on her photography business. Her client closet has transformed her client’s experiences, significantly reducing stress for families. Bailey's unique offering has resulted in increased return clients, improved client satisfaction, and positive word-of-mouth referrals. She mentioned its one of the most raved about things in her reviews.
It's impressive to see how a client closet can positively impact a photography business. Providing clients with a wardrobe not only enhances their experience but also sets Hello Jude Photography apart from competitors in the area. I have personally found that my client closet not only helps the client but the quality of my work as well. While it's a great example of going the extra mile for clients, it’s also a great way to have consistency and control. When you choose what the client wears you also choose the color pallet that compliments your editing, that means no neon green dresses, or odd prints.
Passion for Newborn Sessions and Studio Shooting Tricks:
Bailey shares her passion for newborn photography, driven by her own experiences as a mom of four. She appreciates the opportunity to serve families during a challenging yet precious season of life. In terms of studio shooting techniques, Bailey emphasizes the importance of creating moments in photos rather than simply posing subjects. Encouraging play and fostering genuine connections result in authentic galleries.
Bailey's love for capturing newborn moments shines through her work. Her approach to studio shooting reflects an understanding of the importance of genuine connections and emotional storytelling in photography. It's valuable advice that can elevate the quality of any photographer's work.
YouTube Channel: Starting, Effort, Advertising, and Time Management:
Bailey explains how she started her YouTube channel to fill an educational gap in natural light studio newborn photography. She saw an opportunity to share her knowledge and skills with fellow photographers who prefer a more naturalistic and lifestyle approach. Bailey dedicates time to batch content planning and filming, striving to post one video per week. The Hello Jude Photography YouTube channel is promoted through Instagram, email newsletters, and Pinterest.
It's inspiring to see Bailey's commitment to sharing her expertise and educating others in photography.. By filling a gap in the educational resources available, She has established herself as a valuable source of knowledge. I was curious how a mom of 4 is a full time photographer and has a YouTube, runs a course and puts out amazing content regularly. So I asked her about her time management techniques, such as youtube content, and social media. She suggests batching content days, spending one day to get all of your content filmed and organized. She also makes lists and organizes her priorities at the start of each day into 3 categories: 1. Have to complete, 2. Need to complete, 3. Would like to complete.
“I start with the first and knock out what I can. At the end of the day if 1 is complete but the other 2 aren't’ they move to priorities for the next day. If all three get completed then I move down my big to-do list and pick 3 new things for the next day. Some days none of the 3 get done and the list repeats itself tomorrow.”
Time Management Tips for Mom and Newer Photographers:
In balancing personal and professional life as a mom and photographer, Bailey understands the need for flexibility. She prioritizes tasks by making a daily list and focus on completing the most important items. Three practical time management tips from Bailey include putting the phone on airplane mode or in another room while working, batching content creation, and creating templates for graphics and email responses.
Bailey's time management tips are invaluable for any mom photographer or newcomer to the industry. It's essential to minimize distractions and maximize productivity while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Her advice on batching content and not using templates can maximize your time, give you that creative edge in your marketing/ work and streamline workflow processes.
Hello Jude Photography, owned by Bailey Weisser, offers a unique blend of expertise, personalized client experiences, and a commitment to educating and empowering others. Bailey's journey, establishment of a physical studio, client closet offerings, passion for newborn sessions, and YouTube channel all contribute to her success as a photographer and as a mom of 4! Their time management tips provide valuable insights for fellow mom photographers and those starting their photography journeys especially as moms. I think a key take away from her is to be organized, avoid distractions and take advantage of the time you set aside to accomplish tasks.
